GOOD GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ubiquitous question doing the round these days during company hiring procedures is,"Where do you see yourself five years down the line"?For god sake, spare the gullible students the trouble of answering one of these impasse. Most of us,who are studying in top-20 engineering colleges in India(though widely debated), have sacrificed their 6/6 vision as the legendary Eklavya's Thumb. We can barely see through space, man. How can you expect us to break the space time continuum and transgress into future that too,5 years down the thus far, insurmountable passage of time.
Thanks to the educational system we have manged to crawl through,we are left amputated. We do not have an opinion which we can call our own.We follow the crowd. This seems to be the value enshrined in our constitution,or perhaps it is imbibed in our DNA's,because following the constitution was never one of our strongholds. The case in consideration is that of sudden surge of football fans in India.Ask any sworn die-hard fan of football, how many hours of football he has actually played in his life. And I cannot fathom the reason by which a certain person becomes a football fanatic without actually going through the intricacies and the skills involved in the game. I believe, amongst the many reasons, that has made the game of cricket
gallop through the chasm between 'The Gentleman's Game' and 'The game for the masses'
is the fact that most of the fans have actually experienced the thrills of the game real-time.
The fabric for the umbilical cord that forms the bond between the game and the follower is made up of deja vu associated with the games that the follower has himself participated in.
But,on the other end of the fulcrum,is the Indian mentality of blindly and sometimes blandly following the houte couture.Football is the in thing and anyone who is not interested is considered a tod. I,myself,am an avid sports enthusiast.I survive my life in a hostel where anything and everything with an iota of class associated with it,is considered cool.Despite, best efforts from my side,I cannot arouse a football fan in me.(The only thing I am sure of in my life is that I am a person of very strong likes and dislikes.)Before every Euro cup match, the hostelers make a beeline for the T.V room. They never forget to extend an invitation ,which I blatantly refuse. I am already branded an outcast in some circles. No surprises there.Thank heavens, the trauma is at last over, and I can only hope that this fever gives way to some other social event in which I can participate without feigning enthusiasm.Enough for now,see u soon.....
